There are two main approaches to infrared. One is to say that the human eye can not see infrared and thus it has no "color" and render it in black and white. The other approach is to let the camera see what it will and interpret what it sees in unpredictable and beautiful ways - the world of false color infrared. I embrace both. Please select from my false color or black and white infrared galleries. In general the false-color galleries are formed with infrared light just above the visible threshhold while the B&W photos are done with deeper filters, futher into the near-infrared spectrum. A vast majority of these images were done "in-camera" with as little digital clean-up as necessary. These colors and "effects" reflect the infrared world as seen by my cameras - not artificial digital fabrication, (even thought some of the images look quite fantastic.) |
